I write fiction.
I write wherever I happen to be: film sets in Sydney, cafes in Paris, sand dunes in the Sahara.
Although retired from teaching French, I still love travelling to France and often set my stories there. I also work as a movie extra and present self-send-up poetry at open mics.
My protagonists range in age from adolescence to atrophy. They face adversity inflicted by themselves or others with strength, creative savoir-faire and a sense of humour. One of my heroines dumps her violent husband and propels herself through a personal and sexual revolution. Another is a baby boomer school principal facing the trauma of retirement.
A collection of my short stories will be published by Ginninderra Press early in 2021.
If you explore this website you’ll find extracts from works that I enjoyed writing and that I hope you’ll enjoy reading.
